Getting Around Dublin CheaplyThe cheapest way of get around Dublin is to use public transport. As taxi fares are constantly increasing it is usually too expensive to get around with them, except at night when there are few alternatives. Bus The Dublin Bus network covers nearly every part of Dublin City and County Dublin. They generally depart at regular intervals and the minimum adult fare is € 1 (Under-16 € 0.65). The DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) serves the east coast from Greystones along Dublin Bay, over to Howth and up to Malahide. Trains depart at regular intervals. The minimum fare is € 1. A map is available here. The other suburban services run from the City Centre in various directions marked on the map. Getting Home at Night The last trains and buses leave the city centre between 2300 and 2330. The last Luas (trams) leave the city centre at 0030. The best way to get home from the city centre during the night is the Nitelink bus service operated by Dublin Bus. The fare is € 4 (€ 6 for certain longer routes) so if you're staying in the city centre it may be cheaper to get a Taxi home. Nitelink buses do not operate on Sunday nights. | |||
