Café Novo, a chic new international bar and brasserie opens it doors. This fun and flirty eatery will woo diners with a carefully selected menu that offers traditional favourites with a twist - making it the perfect brunch stop for peckish shoppers or evening dinner and drinks spot for city slickers. Conveniently located on Harry Street, just a few steps from Grafton Street, Café Novo offers informal style drop–in dining, whether you want to grab a modern take on a club sandwich or to simply sip on a cocktail. The décor has a distinctly retro feel, created with floor to ceiling concertina windows opening on to Clarendon Street, comfy brown leather chairs, vibrant orange sofas and a print homage to 50’s Americana adorning the wall. The menu was created by award-winning international chef John Wood, and consists of playful and nostalgically modern options that will have your mouth watering – but without your jaw dropping at the price. Café Novo’s wine list includes over 35 quality wines, all moderately priced, with something for every palate. The cocktails menu is sure to be a hit with fun and quirky cocktails such as ‘Create your own Mojito’ made with Bacardi, lime, fresh mint, white sugar and your choice of just about any fruit; the ‘Coco Chanel’ with Tanqueray gin, coffee liquor and heavy cream; or try the very patriotic ‘Blarney Stone’ made with Bushmills, Sambuca, Grand Marnier, cherry liquor, and twist of orange peel. Lovely atmosphere and service was impeccable! The shrimp starter, the chicken and walnut salad and the knickerbocker glory were all delicious as was the pinot grigio. Full marks! JNG (Connoisseur) Credibility Score: 47%   Visited: 23 Jul 2010 | Posted: 2 Weeks ago We had a reservation for 7pm and we arrived there was a table waiting for us. On a friday night the place was pretty busy and it was buzzing. We started the dinner with couscous salad to share and then we had the rib eye steak and calamari for mains. Both main courses were served with french fries in a cone. The salad was huge and it could have been a main course in itself. I would say the portions served here are larger than other places and i wasn't so hungry. I couldn't manage to finish my fried calamari. The steak was ordered rare but looked more like medium. The service was really great throughout the dinner. We were so stuffed that we ordered ice cream and sorbet to share. The passion fruit yoghurt flavour was really nice. . The price overall is a little high but this is what you would expect for the location of this cafe. The bar at the front does a lovely bottle of proscecco for 30e when was v handy when my friend told us she had got engaged. It was my first time to visit the Cafe but it won't be my last. The athmosphere was very relaxed and casual, service was excellent, with 2 of the staff making recommendations to us at different times, we followed their advice and were not dissapointed. We were left to eat in peace, yet they were there if we needed them. Food was delicious, cooked to perfection and portions were very ample indeed. I would like to return with a group of friends and sample a few more dishes .... '); //--> Joined Mar 10 9 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... Gronjo (Foodie) Credibility Score: 22%   Visited: 14 Jul 2010 | Posted: 3 Weeks ago Two of us went here for dinner on a Wednesday evening, the place was very quiet with just a few diners. I ordered the super salad for start and the south indian curry for mains. Both were very nice! The salad was a big enough portion for a main if you added a meat to it but tasted good. Was pretty stuffed after the curry so we just shared a dessert, lemon drizzle cake. Overall this place is reasonable for food, mains at about E14. My only gripe was the cheapest bottle of wine there was E29, not good value by any means. Nonetheless staff were very nice and food was good. The waitress was lovely. She had good knowledge of the menu and was able to recommend dishes. We both had salads to start. They were lovely and fresh and portions were very generous. I had the baramundi for main and my friend had the curry. Both were very good. We shared the lemon drizzle cake for dessert. Overall a very pleasant experience, will definitely return. The staff were really lovely, very friendly and helpful when deciding what to choose from the menu. Food was delicious and the wine was scrumptious and not too expensive. We had enough Menupages Points to avail of the "Buy one Starter, Main Course & Dessert and get another free" so felt like we got a right bargain. Great spot if you wanted to explore the delights of Grafton Street either before or after your visit. Will be returning for sure. << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 49] Next > Last Page >>
