The restaurant was nice and cosy and the service was okay but the food was only middling. WE opted to go for the early bird...€16.95 each for starters main course and glass or wine or soft drink. The coke was flat, the starter was poor - very tasteless chicken wings for me and my boyfriend had the burshetta which was okay. The pasta dishes we got for the main course was just okay also. The spicy chicken wasn't spicy at all...Just loads of garlic. The bolangnaise was watery. Overall wasn't happy with the food. There was only 2 people eating when we arrived in and two people came in while we were eating so there wasn't a great athmosphere. The staff were friendly which was nice. The mints we got with the bill were also soft (meant to be a glass sweet) Don't think I would go back in a hurry Joined Mar 10 11 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... katie007 (Connoisseur) Credibility Score: 34% Visited: 04 Jun 2010 | Posted: last month As local restaurants go I think Casanova is great! I've eaten here many times and am yet to have an experience to complain about. It's a relatively small place but they always seem to fit you in and no matter how busy it is I never feel rushed or like they want me out so they can have my table back! On this visit I had a pizza and my partner had the pasta with spicey sauce and bacon...both were absoutely amazing and our plates were empty! We then had a chunk of chocolate cake to finish it off which was also fab. It's not the most romatic of places but if you are looking for a nice relaxed evening with some great food this is definitely worth a shot! '); //--> Joined Dec 09 17 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... It's a cosy restaurant with a bright interior with plenty of colourful art on the walls. The service was truly excellent from start to finish, attentive without being overbearing. My girlfriend had the Minestrone Soup followed by Tagliatelle Salmone. I had the Cozze Casanova and the Rigatoni Puttanesca. The Cozze Casanova (mussels in a spicy, garlic tomato sauce) were to die for; absolutely gorgeous. I even had a spoon to scoop up the delicious sauce at the end. Rigatoni Puttanesca (Large pasta tubes with pepperoni, chicken and mushrooms served in a spicy tomato sauce) was good, however not as tasty as the starter. The Minestrone Soup was good and the Tagliatelle Salmone was better. We ended the meal by sharing a Chocolate Cake with cream and ice-cream. Scrumptuous! We had an excellent evening and will return. I found the experience to be good value for money. Joined Jul 07 5 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... The house wine is good value and good quality. The service is particularly note worthy. Asdide of the authentic pasta dishes, which has a huge choice, I can strongly recommend their steaks, unusual to recommend I know for an Italian restaurant, but they are big and juicy and always cooked just as ordered. I hope the recession doesn't hit Casanova's too hard, as its great to get a good local restaurant. The food was authentic italian food, really tasty and worth every penny. The staff were very attentive but not over the top (which is nice) Its a small restaurant and has a cosy personal atmosphere to it. I would highly recommend a visit!!!!.
