Their early bird is great value, we've never been disappointed by the food, it's always good hearty portions packed with flavor. If you haven't tried them yet - what are you waiting for! I was a bit disappointed! the service wasnt great and they made it clear that one of my friends who has gone twice in last month would get preferential treatment as she was a "regular". After ordering all the other starters came out yet mine was forgotten! so had to wait a few extra minutes. The food was good although I had the bruschetta to start which I found was far to big a portion could of had it for my main!! And the bread wasnt toasted but it was nice. For my main I had Penne Arrabiata which was very spicy and I could not eat it another member of our group was the same. The atmosphere in the restaurant is nice although the tables for 2 are quite close together which I found off puting. All in all I would have given this restaurant a much better review a year ago but was not impressed on the visit. The food was mediocre, and did not seem fresh, the prawns I had very obviously frozen and cooked long before I ordered them. My chicken breast was very small. The sauce that accompanied the chicken was nice but my whole plate was drowned in it. The desserts were also of the bulk order frozen variety which was disapponting in a restaurant that claims to prepare its own. I would not have many goos things to say about the restaurant, the service was not fantastic either. Two of our group ordered arriabiata but found it too spicy to eat. The waiter came out and asked one of them why they did not finish it and she said it was too spicy so he said it was on the house and gave her what he described as a free dessert. He then asked the other person the same about her meal but then replied that she would not get any money off as she was not a regular! Whats worse is she goes quite often and was the one who suggested we go there! And to add to that he then charged for the first friend's dinner anyway and also charged for the "complimentary" ice cream he had given her! Needles to say I won't be rushing back for our next night out! The food was very good and service was always friendly. There was always a good selection of fish options. And the three courses for €19.95 early bird menu is good value. I would like to recommand. Girl-about-town (Newbie) Credibility Score: 27%   Visited: 27 Feb 2010 | Posted: over 2 months ago WOW what can I say, after reading the reviews, my sister (birthday girl), her husband, my other sister and myself went to this place, it was our first visit, but not our last, I have already planned another night out soon and we will be going here for dinner, the food as gorgeous, fresh, tasty, smelled divine and looked so appealing I cannot rave enough about the food, the starters were huge portions could easily have been shared, the king prawns were huge and juicy and chicken wings (9 ) were soft juicy and tasty, the steak was nice, I asked for medium I got well done, but it was tasty and still soft so I enjoyed it none the less, a chicken with and orange cream sauce a, the fish and also the pasta were ordered all main coarses were gorgeous I am sure I saw the waiter laughing at all off us passing around our plates to each other to try and all exclaiming how each dish was even nicer then one just tried, the sides of veg were tasty, the chips OMG gorgeous and plentyful also. 4 starters, 4 main, 2 wine, 1 cappacino, 1 coke, and a dessert came to approx €120 exc tip. Service was attentive but not in your face, decor and atmosphere was lovely and relaxing and very authentic, I am a huge fan of Castellina Chianti and look forward to becoming a regular. I was immediately impressed with the decor, had a really Italian feel to it and the placed was packed and buzzing but thats about all the good I can say. There were only 2 waiters working and we had to ask for more menus as our party of 4 were only given 2. Starters were nice, my caprese salad was lovely but we were left over an hour waiting on our mains which were so unimpressive. My sis had asked for a well done steak which was pink in the middle. Hubby got monk fished wrapped in Italian ham which in reality was two miniscule pieces of monkfish wrapped in what can only be described as a thick irish rasher and came with very stange, spicy baked beans. Horrible horrible dish and my stuffed chicken had the same strange spicy stuff on it. Desserts are not home made which I think is a big no no too. Deffo won't be back here in a hurry.. When I finally made my choice the service was brill, not a long waiting time for starter, but just enough time between main course. Very large meals mmmmmmmm - I'm going back this weekend, and prob the weekend after that. I want to try the whole menu! Also great deals at the mo Joined Jan 10 2 Reviews 2 Hats Off! loading... yumsers (Newbie) Credibility Score: 10%   Visited: 23 Jan 2010 | Posted: over 2 months ago Very reasonably priced, really nice staff and great food.
