Dakota is a great mid-evening sampler with space to burn. Busy at the weekends but even so there's lots of space for group lounging with excellent quick serve bar area/ table service. Another factor in the great South William Street charge to prominence.... My friend had fish and chips and I had pasta with tomato which was blant. The chunky chips however were tasty. We also tried their coctails. These were good too and reasonable priced at 5 Euro!! Will be bakc for the cocktails, not sure about the food. Joined May 10 2 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... I have actually introduced a lot of people to this place. However, the last two times I have went in one was 8.45 and they had stopped serving food despite being on the website, and personal experiences I know it should be 9pm. I then decided Tuesday this week to change my work plans and get in early with my boyfriend and we arrived there about 8pm only to be told they had "just decided for no particular reason to stop serving food". very dissapointing considering we are regulars and a little but unfair and I just cant help wondering if it was lack of management on the night that the chef decided to skip out early...either way will be a while before any f us will go back as Dakota seem to have got very inconsistent with serving times, which is EXTREMELY important to customers. The tasting plates had intrigued me so I was even more surprised to find they have a lunch special which included soup of the day, a choice of tasting plate and tea/coffee for just €7.50 - what a bargain. The soup was mushroom and pretty tasty, but I chose the squid and lime battered prawns and I was most impressed with this, not only by the taste but the size of the portion. Service was very good, all-in-all an excellent choice which I would return to. I tend to go here once in a while when I crave chicken wings. At 5 euro a bowl you get a generous portion and they taste really good. Me and my friend also shared the fennel and asparagus salad with goats cheese, which was tasty, but only had three goats cheese balls in it. We were both really disappointed with the chips. They are absolutely HUGE, one chip is nearly the size of a potato. Won't ever get them there again. The service was friendly and relaxed. For dessert i had the apple and blackberry crumble and as they were all out of custard it got it foc which was a nice touch. Service was ok had to try and grab the waiters attention on a few occasions and the place wasnt busy at all. Overall enjoyable food and relaxed atmosphere so will return. The soup was fresh, homemade & delicious. Chicken wings were spicy, just the way I like them in buffalo sauce. My friends duck breast was huge & well prepared. For all of this to include coffees for the price it is one of the best deals I've come across for a long time. Will be popping in for lunch anytime I am in town from now on! We were on the look out for a good lunch deal or early bird. We both went for the deal which consisted of the soup which was bacon and cabbage. I really enjoyed this whereas my friend was not a lover of it! Then there was a few options of dishes which proved to much bigger than I anticipated considering it was a lunch menu! My friend had the chicken wings which were beautiful and full of flavour. I had the grilled pita with hummous ans side rocket salad. The hummous was a diappointment, unlike any hummous i had ever tried before. The chunky chips were a hit! and then there was a choice of tea or coffee then also. Very good for your money worth! The waitress although was quite annoying. We wanted to eat in peace without the waitress constantly looking over as if waiting to take everything off our table. Decor and furnishings lovely. Very cosy. Liked overall! << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 13] Next > Last Page >>
