Rich08 (Connoisseur) Credibility Score: 47%   Visited: 31 Jul 2010 | Posted: yesterday Disappointingly average. I hate to say this of a restaurant that is regarded in such high esteem but the food is only OK. We arrived with high expectations but left just barely satisfied. We shared the shredded duck and spring rolls for starters. The duck was tasty but lacking any real flavour. The spring rolls were good. For mains we had stir fired beef and chicken. Both were slightly bland with no real flavour shining through. The beef was chewy and unenjoyable. The wine menu is fantastic, with a large amount to choose from at reasonable prices. I found the Wine of the Month to a nice touch as it involves the customer more in the process. Needless to say we went with it and while it was good I was regretting not choosing the rioja after the first glass. The rest of the venue gets five stars, but that's not what I give too many points for - I'm paying for the food, the service and ambiance should be included in that. The service was good, if a little too attentive and slightly rushed. While the atmosphere was enjoyable Joined Sep 09 6 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... kavgou (Foodie) Credibility Score: 34%   Visited: 30 Jul 2010 | Posted: yesterday value meal is really excellent value.. two people three courses and a tasty bottle of tempranillo for 74.50... you are supposed to be out in two hours but our server said that it wasnt too busy (bank hol fri) so there was no time limit on us... just as well since it took about five mins to be brought menus and another ten mins for our order to be taken. The choice is limited but still good though the pork belly as more appreciated by my husband than by me... as the server said more of a male dish!! The curries were really tasty. Overall goood food, nice staff but slow service. It was fab as always! It's slightly on the expensive side for asian food but sooo worth it. I always go there to celebrate a special occasion and have never been disappointed. The atmosphere is really chilled but with a nice buzz. The staff are excellent, we were there for almost 3 hours without realising it and that was before desert. We didn't feel rushed off the table at all. Fantastic venue for a group special occasion. We are hoping to get back there soon to celebrate a 30th birthday.... The new spring/summer menu is very tasty. The last time I was there I had the scallops for starters and steamed sea bass for main, both were wonderful and full of flavour. Excellent selection of wines. The restaurant offers a very good evening 'value menu' of 3 courses and a bottle of premium wine for 72.50 per couple. Although there were options to suit everyone on the value menu, I preferred some of the dishes from their A La Carte menu. Our waiter was very accommodating when I asked if it was possible to order a first course from the value menu but a main course from the A La Carte. I chose salt & chili squid to start. I was expecting the usual squid rings but was pleasantly surprised to get deliciously tender squid pieces in a batter. My hubby chose the pork belly which was divine. The skin was perfectly crispy but the meat still remained juicy. For main course I ordered stir fried scallops with garlic and my hubby opted for the green duck curry. Both were perfectly cooked; the scallops were not overcooked, and were still translucent in the centre. Both of our dishes were served with steamed rice. A bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc perfectly complimented the dishes. Service was attentive without being over-powering. During our meal a member of the front of house team asked if we were enjoying our meal which was a nice touch. Definitely a fine dining experience. Had set menu of three courses plus a bottle of wine for 2 people for 60 euro. Fantastic value. Excellent food and service. Would definitely recommend it. Their special value menu is fantastic, and its defo worth going for the slightly more expensive option for a choice in wine. Food is excellent quality and service was great. Some of the best Mojitos that ive ever had!!!! The staff were very nice, they didn't rush us. There was just the right amount of time between courses, and the staff regularly topped up the wine, althought they did not leave the wine bottles we ordered on the table, which I would have liked. The atmosphere was nice, calm and relaxed. The food was very good, everyone was impressed. However, we did find it quite expensive for what we got. << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 46] Next > Last Page >>
