The food was good, the service was polite and it was good value. I had the smoked salmon starter with baby potato salad and it was really tasty and the portion size was plenty for me for lunch. We have passed here a several times and wanted to try it and we were glad we did. The menu promised good value from the outset. There were three in our party, for starters we had fish cakes, smoked salmon with new potatoes and chicken salad, all got the thumbs up very fresh lovely flavours and presented well. For our mains we had gnocchi with prawns, chicken with avocado salad and beef tomato stuffed with cous cous this was particularly good, the last main was chicken and pasta dish with red pesto. All meals met we high approval, the service was excellent food delicious and good value with three glasses of wine the cost was 65.00 Euro not a bad price for a good lunch we will be back. On entering, we were taking to our table (in the back - thought we were heading for the kitchen), where we had a private area for our group. Menu was good value at first glance, and portions relatively good for the price. Between as all, we tried most things on the menu, and everybody was happy! As starters were all 4Euro, some opted for the soup, personally i went for the chicken parcels. Tasty! The mains ranged from 9 to 12Euro, again not bad. Pork was my option of choice and I was happy. As for desert, it was difficult to choose, but the chocolate lava was the final decision. Once again, it dot fail to hit the spot. Overall, a nice lunch and good value! Food is good and a nice varied meny Service can be a little slow sometimes- but if your ever in town and fancy a lazy lunch pop in. The menu provided adequate selection. The Fish cakes were deep fried fish in batter with salad- slightly disappointing. The main -Paella was very tasty with ample amounts of prawn and mussels. The wait staff were extremely attentive and polite. The restaurant itself was very cold on the evening that i was there. Good value for money. Ideal place for lunch conversations & nice food at good price. Portions could be a bit bigger but food is of great quality. Simple but well prepared. Nice wines & deserts. Staff are welcoming & attentive. All in all its a reliable spot and we'll always return Joined Feb 10 2 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... hiberno (Newbie) Credibility Score: 20% Visited: 05 Feb 2010 | Posted: over 2 months ago Had a lovely evening here last night with two other people. In terms of ambience George's wine bar did well to employ the classical spanish guitar player. Wait staff were perfectly friendly and efficient and sorted out a little mix up we had with the wine (just be aware that the offer of a free bottle of wine is not necessarily for ANY wine on the list, so ask first). We ordered a bottle of NZ Sauvignon blanc, yum. The 2 starters we ordered were fine, but I did think they looked rather small on the plate. Two of us had paella which was delicious and the special of the day panfried haddock with vegetables was nicely done. An extra two glasses of wine later, we all had coffees and demolished the pear and almond tart with icecream. It all came to €116, but with the fantastic offer of a free bottle of wine worth up to €30 (with every two 2 course dinners) we only paid €86! All in all good value and very pleasent experience. << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 19] Next > Last Page >>
