Stylish new Central Dublin pub, homed in an historic old Bank building with all of its original detail. Very busy evening trade ensures the Grand is always buzzing. Huge range of top notch, wines, beers and spirits and a mouth watering menu. Live music + a superb Sunday session. Recomended. Parnie (Foodie) Credibility Score: 39%   Visited: 29 Jul 2010 | Posted: last week Myself and 2 pals met here for lunch and one of us was in a hurry. The food came promptly but not too promptly, that you would be concerned that it was not freshly prepared. The menu is quite wide ranging and we ordered chicken salad, baguettes and stir fry. We all liked the food and were pleased with the whole dining experience. Prices were quite reasonable too which was good. We were waiting a while to get served and even longer for the bill which was annoying. Very busy place. I got the salmon and baked potato which I thought was really good and lovely stir fried vegetables. My boyfriend got the burger, which was excellent. Overall, food was good, but perhaps a bit pricey for what it is. We had often passed the place and commented on how nice it looks. It does indeed look nice, from the outside. I had the fish and chips which tasted only of grease. My chips were overcooked and damp and my fish tasted and looked like something out of a supermarket freezer. For the price we were expecting a lot more. I've dined in a few other restaurants owned by the same group and have very much enjoyed each occassion. This was quite a let down. The service was prompt but impersonal. Finding the toilets was quite an adventure through an underground maze! They had a club sandwich as there special that day 3 of us got that it came with Chips and a salad and it was fab. The 4th person had chicken baguette with cios and salad too and she said it was really nice. Didnt really like the place its self but thats just personal preference...But food was fab and would return again for a quick bite and head on. I really like this place because it is so central and offers a good variety on the menu. Perfect for a pre cinema bite or some side orders to enjoy with drinks. Service is always efficient and friendly. I had the salmon while my friend had had the cajun chicken. Both were delicious. While 13 or 14 euro is not excellent value at least you know the food is always of a good standard and I like the open kitchen where you can see the food being prepared. Wont wait for so long this time to return! The seats are comfortable, the service was fast and friendly, and the food was delicious. I had the cajun chicken baguette which I highly recommend. The prices were decent, around 11-13 euros for a main dish and the portions were most generous. I highly recommend this place! The wine was good and i enjoyed the service. For a pub they give you a lot better service then some resturants. Very relaxing and the fingure food is really nice will probably be coming back to this place Joined May 08 39 Reviews 1 Hats Off! loading... carebear (Guru) Credibility Score: 78%   Visited: 02 Dec 2009 | Posted: over 2 months ago I came here on a Wednesday evening for food and a couple of drinks. I had the scampi and fries and the chocolate brownie for dessert. The scampi were average; nothing special. The chocolate brownie was ordered warmed but came out cold. The service was friendly enough but there was an extra €10 on the bill by mistake. In fairness, it was taken off and apologies were given when it was pointed out. I think its a bit pricey for what u get, €14 for a few scampi and fries plus €6 for the brownie. Considering the good deals to be had in town these days, i think there's better value to be had for nicer food elsewhere.
