The enigmatic Hairy Lemon Pub was christened in memory of one of the city’s great characters who was a dog catcher in the 1950’s. He was reputed to boast a lemon shaped visage and a stubble of gooseberry like hair. This most enjoyable drinking establishment is just about as unconventional as it’s namesake. Even the 19th century house in which it resides is a little ‘outside-the-box’; with years of memorabilia a sitting room suspended in mid air, High Nellie’s, wellies and even Granny’s Kitchen, the block buster film ‘The Commitments’, lives on in the Hairy Lemon Pub. Many scenes were filmed using the snug and bar counter from the pub. Unknown to itself, the Hairy Lemon has become one of Dublin’s Trendiest Pubs. So…. “Here’s to the first drop-the one that destroys you; there’s no harm at all in the last”. Great food, service and a friendly atmosphere, but watch out for huge crowds at the weekends. I had a burger and chips which was filling and tasty. The only fault I would have was the tables. we were sitting as a group of four but the two tables were at different heights. Perhaps this is part of the charm?? In all honesty it was the nicest stew I have ever had. The lamb was so tender and it was really tasty. It was served with home made brown bread and a baked potato. I'm still craving it now! I had a cup of tea which was served with a home made short bread biscuit. One word delicious. The service was quick and very friendly. Joined Sep 09 13 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... Very generous portions, and a good selection of choices! Lovely little pub atmosphere right in the middle of the city centre. Next time I'll order the chicken stir fry, with noodles, it was sooo good! Joined Jan 10 4 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... I ordered Seafood Chowder to start and it was delicious, so creamy and yummy and for my main I got Beef and Guinness stew, the meat was so tender and full of flavor. I really enjoyed my meal and felt I got value for money! For me, it ticks all the boxes. The menu is excellent, good atmosphere, food is always delicious. No matter who is with me we leave happy as there is variety and there is always specials on. The reason I am posting this is I rave about the deals here all the time & I always find them fantastic. I was in just before Christmas, I had the Christmas special. I had the chowder followed by Lamb shank. Couldn't fault it, good value €16.95. I hope they keep it on as a special. We shared the homemade baileys cheesecake, there was a row over the last spoonful! << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 9] Next > Last Page >>
