I love the place, but the atmosphere can be tainted when its quiet. They are doing a great early bird which is great after a hard days shopping in Dundrum. A nice glass of champers too / too hell with the recession!!! The menu only has 3 choices of starter, main and desser but each of the options all sounded very tasty. We all went for the potted crab and avacado salad for starter, which was really really tasty, the crab was simply devine, the avacado lovely and fresh and it was all presented beautifully too. We also all went for the goats cheese risotto for the main, which was again absolutely delicious. We shared a cheese board to finish off where we chose what cheese we wanted from the plentiful and varied cheese cart. We had 1 bottle of wine, two glasses of wine, coffees, and a cocktail to finish off, and the end bill game to 70 a head! So the drinks definitely add up, and they also automatically added a service charge of 12.5% to the bill. I thought adding the service charge was a bit much as there were only 3 of us, and service there was very mixed on the night. Service as another reviewer pointed out was the area which wasn't great, it took me about 15/20 minutes to get the maitre'd s attention to order a drink on arrival, this when there were only two other tables in the restaurant. He seemed to have a bit of a snooty/cant be bothered attitude. Our waiter though was very nice and helpful, although again was a big effort to get him to come over to us! That being said the food here really was amazing so would definitely go back, and hopefully service will be better next time! '); //--> Joined Dec 08 14 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... The staff were very welcoming initially, however seemed to loose interest as soon as we said we did not want any wine and would like tap water. Throughout the meal I had to ask three times for a new glass of water and it was very difficult to get the attention of staff. My food was fantastic, I had the Sauté Gnocchi, Wild Mushroom Fricassée, Parmesan, Rocket Salad and it was truly lovely. My dining companion had the steak which she felt was slightly undercooked but otherwise very good. The dessert was divine. Foodwise I was delighted with the restaurant, the food was well presented, delicious and portion size was very good. The service really let the place down however. Will try it once more perhaps at dinner hour. We travelled from Cork and before we left we asked a few people what restaurants are good near Dundrum. We got a lot of good reviews about Harvey Nichols so booked it before we travelled (thank god we did as it was full the evening we were there). We had a fantastic evening. We started with Cocktails in the bar served by a very friendly barman. The food was devine and the service was excellent. The manager was a lovely guy, he sat with us for a few minutes and gave us great tips on where to go in the city for our big night out. Thank you to all the staff at Harvey Nichols for giving us a fantastic evening. You'll definately see us again, sooner rather than later I'd expect. Thanks again. (Been wanting to go for ages as I live in Dundrum). Had no reservation so took a chance & got a really lovely welcome from a lady on reception. Welcomed us in, offered us a drink before dinner, gave us a menu to peruse over drinks! Super start. Cocktails made to perfection. What a cool venue. The restaurant is worth going to just to see the room! Restaurat was full bar one table. Dinner was sublime. Ham hock to start (the lady had asparagus) followed by the most delicious lamb I've had in forever (she the mullet - a brave choice but equally delicious). The white we choose was a treat. A '08 Cloudy Bay Sauv. Blanc. Dessert was decedant - we shared a warm toffee pudding! The service was lovely & realaxed (all native staff) & the manager sat & chatted with us for a while. Funny guy. Then as we were relaxing this man came & started singing the coolest tracks from The Rat Pack, Michael Buble & that ilk. Great fun & a real bonus. The singer is there every few weeks I heard. I really hope the next time I go back that it will be as amazing. Great work folks. Please keep it up & thanks for a great evening. Had to ask at least 4 times for water / wine menu. Starter (crab) very average. Main (steak, medium) was stone cold. Sent back, and was returned to me cold. When sent back a second time, was informed that chef unable / unwilling to do anything further with it. Floor manager not remotely interested / apologetic. Needless to say didn't stay for dessert! << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 22] Next > Last Page >>
