Kielys is the home of Leinster rugby. Where the rugby playing barrel chested and well to do gather. The food is top notch, service excellent and the facilities are very clean. There is a trad night on every Thursday and a D.J. on Friday and Saturday night. Five minutes walk from the RDS rugby ground and ten minutes walk from Lansdowne Road. Four of us went for an early Saturday lunch, and the pub grub was top notch, on a par with previous visits. Drinks were slow to come - we'd to put in a request for a pint of Guinness three times before it landed on our table. Worse still, a customer from a neighbouring table in Ciss's came over as soon as we finished eating. He informed us that he and a group of his friends had reserved our table for the purposes of watching a Six Nations game which was due to start a couple of hours later. We thought the bar staff could have at the very least informed us of this arrangement before we were seated. We didn't want to cause a fuss or seem put out by the grown man's childish request, but we thought it bad form of the staff not to give us advance warning, and left not wanting to give them any further custom. As a frequent customer who lived in the area for the previous four years, I was annoyed by the customer service and it will be a while before we return. Chicken pitta is great. Great atmosphere on match days only problem is getting a seat. I had lemon sole goujons and Mr FishFinger had a ham & cheese sandwich. Both were delicious, came with stacks of chips and side salad. Service was fabulous. Excellent value. Great local pub for food, drinkies and fun. Joined Nov 06 45 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... Kate (Guru) Credibility Score: 90%   Visited: 21 Nov 2009 | Posted: over 2 months ago In contrast to the other reviewers, I didn't find the choice on the menu to be very good. I found it quite limited. However, my chicken caeser salad was quite tasty. The tomato soup was not good - it tasted like a cup a soup and I would definitely expect better than that. Having said that. the atmosphere and the staff are both great. We were here on Sunday evening so there was a mix of people in watching football and having a chat, not jam packed for the bank holiday weekend. Nice choice of Pub Grub on the menu. I had the goats cheese salad and my friend had the club with chips. There was enough to feed a small army! quite good value and nice relaxed atmosphere in the pub. Would go again if I'm out that way.
