Anyway finally went last Saturday. The place itself is nice, its situation near the pier is great. We were in group of 6, all but one being fish fans. It was a special night out so we were all prepared to splash out a little more than normal. Starters had by us included Oysters, crab morny and other mixed starters. 3 of us had lobster, one monkfish and one Turbot and one steak. All were good but the side dishes of veg and potatoes were very poor, warm at best and reheat jobs. We had 3 mid range bottles of wine and 2 waters, 2 shared deserts and a few after dinner drinks. Service was a bit too in "in your face" for my liking. To the bill they automatically added a 12.5% service charge which I think is disgraceful in these recessionary times (it should be at the diners discretion). It certainly was not value for money at €250 per couple and based on that I would not be rushing back. On a stormy night, four of us braved the elements to try it out. The service was impecable, there not being may diners meant we were exceptionally well looked after. They have a set menu for €28 for 2 courses or €35 for 3 courses. On the website this included lobster for an extra €10 which wasn't on the menu when we arrived. The manager had no qualms about offering us this, and we were delighted. I had the venison sausage and delicious scallops to start and a perfectly cooked and generous lobster for main with butter sauce, I was in heaven! For dessert three of us chose cheese and got a generous plate of 6 types of Irish cheese, gorgeous!. Petit fours were delightful and the house red tasty. A fabulous evening of fabulous food for a great price considering the quality. Heaven.
