Konkan is a quiet little Indian restaurant that does a surprising trade in the evenings. The menu is quite detailed and they've a wine to compliment every dish. Very enjoyable indeed. The first noticeable difference was that the decor has not changed and the restaurant is not BYO(Bring Your Own Wine) anymore, which in my view is a retrostep. BYO was a huge attraction to this restaurant previously. We found the waiters extremly helpful, they know the menu well and were professional. We ordered a starter each, 2 main courses and a bottle of house wine. The restaurant was very busy with takeaway delivery staff coming and going. This may have accounted for the extrodinary delay in serving our food. When the food eventually arrived it was pleasant however, one complaint we did have was the amount of salt used. Both the starter and main course were extremly salty. The prices were reasonable. The main emphasis of this restaurant appears to be take away business. While we did enjoy the meal we wouldn't be rushing back. I recently ate here with a group of 8 friends and the food was phenomenal. Indian food is definitely my favourite cuisine and so I have eaten in many Indian restaurants in my time- none have ever been as good as Konkan. I cannot wait to go back. The service was excellent too. If you love Indian food you will love it here! YUM! And this place did everything for me. As it was my first time to try this place, I went for the early bird. There is a good choice - and sure the full menu is very reasonable too. I had teh madras and tried some of my better half's rogan josh. Now Indian is my favourite type of food so I like to consider myself quite experienced here. Their sauces were heavenly - I would have eaten them without meat!. The service was excellant and the staff were very attentive even though we just ordered the early bird and didnt go for wine. Will be back asap. I have to say that if it was not for the reviews on MP I would not go as from the outside it does not look too attractive. But inside the atmosphere is fantastic. Service also very nice. Food is served in just in time and if fabulous!!! All of us had something different and everybody loved the food (I had fish – lovely). There is only one Indian restaurant I tasted better food in but it is in UK;) Bit disappointed with wine but everything else was great. Highly recommended. Ate in Konkan for the first time ever tonight and it is a fabulous restaurant. Amazing food, extremely friendly and courteous staff. Very generous portions. Lovely warm atmosphere.
