The service was poor, almost resentful. My goats cheese salad was a hunk of cheese on a couple of leaves, my friend and I had to order bread to eat it. My main course of mediterranean veg cous cous with chickpeas turned out to be a bland soupy thing with a few hunks of veg, with bland cous cous on the side. the cheeseplate might have been nice, but I was full of cheese following my wildly unbalanced starter. I was excited about coming here, but I won't be back. It has not been the first time to dine in La cave. As usual, very warm, welcome athmosphere welcomed us. We went for early bird menu. there is not much to complain. everything was very good service, quality of the food and wine of course(I consider long list wines by the glass as one of the most important factor to dine there) I highly recomend to people who like bit tight bu warm and cheerful places. Frenchlady (First Timer) Credibility Score: 18% Visited: 15 Feb 2010 | Posted: over 2 months ago Went for a business lunch. We ordered the salmon, it was undercooked (how can anyone undercook salmon?nothing is simpler to cook) and the green beans were raw. We had the mousse au chocolat for desert ,which had no taste but a sandy texture... awful. The chardonnay tasted cheap and gave me a headache for the rest of the day, sign of a poor quality wine. The service lacked any kind of enthusiasm. All over a very bad experience Joined Nov 08 35 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... Feed-me! (Guru) Credibility Score: 70% Visited: 22 Dec 2009 | Posted: over 2 months ago Booked La Cave for a work Christmas lunch at very short notice and was delighted they could accommodate us. We were seated in the upstairs section which is nicely decorated and comfortable. The food was really good - especially for a Christmas lunch. Duck and fois gras salad was nice but my venison cassoulet was just fantastic. Being la Cave they have an excellent wine list and the service is great. My only complaint was that the bathrooms were absolutely freezing. Wouldn't be a bad idea to put a heater in there for the winter! Joined Aug 07 28 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... Myself and my mother looking for somewhere warm and inviting ventured into La Cave. The room itself is very small and intimate. The food was beautiful and the wine really nice. Left La Cave very happy and definately will return. If going in the evening I would advise to book as a lot of people were being turned away!
