Inside the resstaurant didn't appeal to us at all, it was cold and could do with some changes.However the service was good. Am compelled to do so after the dreadful meal I ate here last week! Firstly, on the plus side this "family run" restaurant certainly had a laid back, casual feel. The waitress was very friendly, the decor shoddy in a kind-of charming way! However, the food was muck. Me and my girlfriend shared 2 starters on the Early Bird: Garlic Bread: An almost burnt slice of toast with hardly a wiff of garlic, and... Mixed Italian Salad : Tasteless and certainly not fresh. Horrible. For mains My girlfriend (Vegetarian) went for the Tagliatelli Napolitana. It reminded us of the kind of food you made in your first few weeks away from home at college! there was NO taste, none. She managed a few mouthfuls but could do no more. How can such a simple dish be done so badly? I choose Spaghetti Al Fruitti De Mara (Spaghetti with seafood and tomato sauce). It was brought out completely wrapped in tin foil. I was intrigued, thought this to be a good sign, I had never seen Italian food presented like this before. The pasta was stodgy, had no taste, (I finishing less than half the dish). No amount of black pepper or parmesan could save either dish. The parmesan by the way was the processed powdery type, not fresh!!! That was the nail in the coffin for us. I gratefully accepted the offer of a complimentary sambuka while we were paying. Anything to wash away the taste or lack of left after this really really bad meal. The house red was below par too by the way and I ain't being fussy! We really wanted to like this place. Despite it's uninviting run down shop front, there always seems to be a good crowd in the place whenever I pass. So rough and ready, simple, old school, damn good Italian was what we were hoping for. Place has gone downhill . It is a bit scruffy & toilets were a disgrace . My wife had lamb cutlets which were practivally inedible due to being overcooked. I had chicken which was very bland. It may have been a mistake not ordering Italian choices . We won't be rushing back anytime soon ! Really warm staff, who were incredibly attentive and made us feel most welcome. The aubergine starter was scrumptious! $ of us had fish for our mains and from the cod in provencale sauce to the seafood pasta to the seafood pizza, we were all very happy with our meals. Desserts could be better..I think next time I'll skip, but everything else I highly recommend. Good service not too slow i think its family run like all all good italian restaurants.. Only thing I would say was that while the service was friendly and helpful, it was slow, particularly at the end. Our side was empty so we were 'forgotten' about and there was at least 20 minutes between asking for the bill and actually getting it even though it wasn't busy. That said, I'd definitely go back. There's plenty of variety on the menu to want to try it out more!
