I've changed my mid on this. We were seated fast enough before waiting 20 minutes to give our order. We had to ask for a glass of water which came eventually, we were assured that water is usually brought straight to the table, but this was the smallest issue of the evening. We waited ages for the starters to arrive and when they did they left a lot to be desired. My risotto was not good at all, it was so so bland, awful, and it tasted and felt like baby food. Our plates were taken away without an enquiry as to how they were, but the majority of the waiting staff also left me feeling unsatisfied last night. Our pizzas came out almost immediately, which made me question how long they were sitting in the kitchen but to my surprise they tasted fine. After we asked for the bill we were left sitting for half an hour before having to ask once again, very frustrating. On the plus side the wine was nice. I will not be returning any time soon especially when there are so many great places to eat in Terenure. The service is great and the food is lovely and at a great price. I had the prawns for starters which was delish, then I had the burger followed by the sticky toffee pudding. It was really good. Overall, great value and great food. I would recommend this place. I had visited here on numerous occassions a few years ago, but stopped going when a lot of other restaurants started better mid-week deals. We opted for a shared starter of bruchetta. The tomatoes were very tasty, however the bread was a little soggy. For mains, I chose the chicken with mushroom, white wine and creme sauce with potatoes. I asked for a baked potatoe, which they said they dont do, but she said I could have baby potatoes. The chicken arrived out with a very yellow sauce covered by a whole heap of lettece and balsalmic vinegar. The potatoes came in a separate bowl with nothing else (I thought there would be some herbs or garlic!). There was no effort put into the presentation of the food and it didnt look very appetising. My boyfriend chose a pizza which was nice but there was a lot of cheese on it ! Enjoyed the wine, but found it overpriced. The bill came to 59EUR, which I thought was extremely expensive. We often eat out, and had a 2 course meal last week for 43EUR for the same type of restaurant that was much nicer. I'm sorry to say that I certainly wont be back to Mario's any time soon. Early bird menu is fantastic value - €14 for 2 courses, and you can have your pick of pasta dishes as part of that, which is great. Being coeliac, I always bring my own pasta along and they cook it for me no problem, which is great for me! Really like this place for a quick bite during the week, and the atmosphere is always lovely! Restaurant very busy but got a table near the door. The waiter promised to move us away from the door when another table became available and he kept his promise. Service as usual in Marios friendly attentive and qucik. Early bird menu great value and good choice. The tagliatelle carbonara is finger licking good as are the pizzas. Great service, nice atmosphere and great value for money.Marios delivers every time. This place is ok, standard pizza/pasta fare. Service is ok, and value on the wine list is good, (reasonable house wine around the 20 quid mark). Some of the pasta we had (pasta tuscan) was a little bit bland and lacked any real flavour. Given this places location, I could see myself back here for a no fuss, easy dinner again. << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 16] Next > Last Page >>
