To be fair the staff were very nice - we were initially seated squished between the till and other customers even though the restaurant was far from full, but there was no problem changing our table when we asked. The food wasn't too bad - my mushroom starter was lovely and while the pork belly wasn't great, the accompaniments were nice. My friend thought her salmon wasn't very fresh, but it wasn't too bad either. The main problem with the evening was the horrific out-of-tune live music being played. Suffice to say, I might return to the Millstone, but only if I manage to gnaw my own ears off first. We ordered a variety of monkfish, sea bass and pizzas for the mains all of which were quite tasty. However the service was extremely poor. The drinks order was incorrect, we had to ask twice for a jug of water for the table, one of us was left waiting for their mains, another was left waiting for their dessert and we also had to ask for additional drinks again. I enjoy eating out a lot in many restaurants in Dublin and haven't encountered this poor level of service in a long time. It slightly spoiled the evening and I did let the maitre d' know before we left. However for me this is a restaurant not worth the visit with so many other great restaurants within a stones throw. Six of us were here for a family brunch on Sunday and every one of us thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the experience as a whole. It is a fantastic restaurant for coeliacs as they have an extensive menu with burgers, pizza, sandwiches - all the stuff that we normally don't get to enjoy. Aside from this, the other 5 eating off the normal menu were raving about their food too. The restaurant was almost empty which must have been because of the torrential rain outside. We stayed for almost 3 hours and couldn't believe where the time had gone. It's such a relaxed atmosphere! Looking forward to going back again soon and trying out the evening menu. The choice is great and the food is fabulous. 6 of us dinned and the quality quantity and taste of the food was great. We where all happy. Smoked salmon for start was really well presented and the stuffed mushroom amazing. I had the fish and chips the batter was really light. i could not eat the full portion. Staff really friendly and helpful. we where celebrating 3 birthdays so they wrote in choclate on the desert plat all 3 names and sang Happy birthday. Cant wait to go back and would highly recommend. We all went for pizzas which were mounded with toppings and very filling. We had a beautiful house wine (Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon I think) which complemented the food quite well. A major attraction for me was that there is a dedicated (and fairly extensive) Coeliac menu on offer. The staff were very knowledgeable about the condition which is very difficult to find elsewhere in Dublin and a huge advantage for anyone with a gluten intolerance. The service was very friendly and our server even asked us for feedback or ways to improve the Coeliac menu after our meal. The only issue I had was with the live music, which while others may have enjoyed it, was a bit loud and much too cheesy for my taste. The whole meal was great value, The set menu seemed like a good deal so I'd say I will be back soon to try it out.
