The New Millenium is one of the best Asian restaurants in the city, offering a wide range of dishes from Cantonese to Thai cuisine. Always popular with the Chinese community, and famous for it's Dim Sum, its gets a firm thumbs up from us. We pretty much had the place to ourselves. The pre/post theatre menu was good value with 2 courses and a scoop of ice cream for 20.50 euros. The service was pretty good, although the large orders might have slowed the process down a bit. The food itself was nice. Starters were a bit small, and some complaints were heard about the spring rolls, which appeared to be largely made of bean-sprouts. The main courses were superb and substantial. The restaurant itself was nice, but would have been fairly dead had we not been such a large group. Food was good-one of our party was chinese & she ordered for all of us so we had a selection of dishes that were not our usual chinese fare. The one thing that lets this restaurant down is the atmosphere. This is the third time I've eaten here & there has never been a 'buzz' about the place no matter how full it is. Prices are reasonable but not attractive enough to stop me looking for another chinese restaurant in the city centre. Ordered the springrolls and the szcehaun chicken main... springs rolls were pretty tasteless.. they were supposed to be vegetable but all that weew in it was the beanssprout things. Main was lovely even though we had to wait for quiet a while an then couldn't have the dessert as they has taken so long serving us an we had to go back to work. Probably will not go back in a hurry. Three of us arrived and were seated quickly and our orders were taken, all good. The place itself is quite plain and outdated, but clean. I had the spare ribs for starters, they were nice, but I could have done with one more maybe, my friends ordered the won tons which you can't really go wrong with. I then ordered crispy duck with crabmeat sauce, which sounds great, but was a little bland, it needs a little kick to make it special. The other two had chicken in a szechuan sauce and king prawn with cashew nuts in crispy nest respectively, the first being average but the prawns being very nice and well presented. The menu itself sounds lovely, but I'm not sure whether it was my choices or not, but I reckon it's pretty average. Overall it wasn't a bad experience but it didn't blow my socks off either.
