I'd go here quite a bit, as it’s a favourite spot to meet up amongst my friends. The wine list is excellent, with a huge selection, and the staff are lovely, knowledgeable, and friendly. Four of us had a lovely evening in there recently, drinking a lovely dry spanish white, sharing olives, Tapenade, a selection of irish cheeses, some antipasti, and the crusty bread with the olive oil dip is pretty amazing! There is also a lovely buzz about the place at Christmas time! It was large enough for 3 people and was good value too. However, the staff really left something to be desired. The waitress misunderstood us numerous times when we asked for a few simple things such as olive oil and she also mixed up our bill when we wanted to pay. It was also impossible to get a smile out of her. The waiters were much the same and we felt that we were putting them out when we asked for something. My wine glass was whisked away from me the moment I finished the last drop! A very off-putting experience in general. Being right in the heart of tourist Dublin, I wonder what experience visitors to our City are having when they come here? The potential to be much better, if simply the staff were friendly. I had a gorgeouos Portugese red wine and my friend had a Valpolicella. Fast and friendly service even though the guy waiter on his own. A lovely little place to go for some quiet time and a chat. Once there we were completely sucked into the atmosphere with a saxophone player gently playing jazz in the corner. We order a glass of the house red and white and relaxed. We saw others food arriving and decided to take a look at the menu, which was extensive and not too expensive. I ordered the farmhouse platter and my partner ordered the smoked chicken risotto. The bread, cheeses and meats were excellent and my partners risotto was exquisite, I'd never had smoked chicken before so I just had to try hers! I have since tried to emulate this recipe at home myself, but unfortunately unsuccessfully! I'll just have to go back! The staff were friendly and authentic, but the jazz saxophonist stole the show. We worth a visit! '); //--> Joined Mar 09 8 Reviews 1 Hats Off! loading... The restaurant is enticing from the outside, especially on a sunny evening, with large windows that open out onto the street. We shared a bottle of the house red which was delicious, and all went for the risotto of the day which was chicken and asparagus. The risotto was very tasty, but had quite a heavy sauce. The service was only alright, it took a while to order the coffees afterward the meal. Overall it was a nice place but not a very extensive menu which is what I would prefer. Would return but not necessarily in a hurry. We tasted 6 different (all mid-range) wine, 3 whites and 3 reds. There were some cheese and meat platters included with the tasting, including some breads and dips. All in all, I think the €40 price tag per person leaves a lot to be desired for. Joined Dec 08 13 Reviews 1 Hats Off! loading... Okay the place aint cheap but they have some really nice cheese and meat plates as well as mains and a great wine list. The atmosphere was lovely even though the place had only a few occupied tables. Service was great and the watress really friendly. We ordered a platter to share for starters which was meats and cheeses. A small main each came after and adding on wine the bill was 150. There were only three of us and to be honest the food was nice but nothing special...I left feeling i'd spent way too much for what I'd had My main was quite nice..being a chicken salad. It was quite small but enough for me as I had filled up on meats and cheeses. I would visit here again but probably just to share a bottle of wine and skip the food. The one great thing this place has is a very laid back attitude to people taking their time over the meal. << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 15] Next > Last Page >>
