I had the risotto daily special which was excellent and most of the team enjoyed excellent coffees to finish. Reasonably priced for dinner but as same price for lunch i always felt it is a tad expensive, approx. €14-15 per main course. All in all a very accomplished small local italian eaterie. I have had dinner here a number of times, either with just my girlfriend or with bigger groups of 5 or 6, which they can generally accommodate with a little notice. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and the staff are generally attentive without being annoying. The quality of the food is very high with a wonderful edge of rustique and local, similar to places I experienced on a trip to Rome a couple of years ago. In terms of value for money however, sometimes I feel I am being charged a little much. Breakfast for two of us recently hit nearly €50 for two good breakfasts, two (bottled) juices and four cappuccinos. Dinner is much better value with a very nice wine list! I love the meatballs. The menu is limited, just really pasta and salads. The man in the place appeared to be eating lasagne that wasn't on the menu but looked delicious so we decided to ask the waitress could we have the same - no problem. It was a huge portion, served with garlic bread - delicious! It was however 14.50 which I think is a little expensive for lasagne. '); //--> Joined Feb 10 1 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... SMITHFIELD (First Timer) Credibility Score: 12% Visited: 02 Feb 2010 | Posted: over 2 months ago This place is lovely, its tucked away on Mannor Place just off Mannor Street in Stoneybatter so you can usually get a table. It has a lovely intimate feel to it. I think it is perfect for Saturday brunch and lingering over coffee. The food is nice, nothing super special but very enjoyable. The wine is relatively reasonably priced and very drinkable. We ordered a bottle of Red wine, which the waiter let me try first, it was excellent. Before our starters arrrived we were given a few tasty little mini pancakes stuffed with walnuts, this was a nice idea.We both had bruschetta for starters, which was a generous portion, with lovely fresh tomatoes. For mains I had the gorgeously rich and creamy ravioli with ricotta and a walnut cream sauce. My partner had the tagliatelle pesto, which tasted great too.For dessert I had homemade Tiramisu, which came in a very generous portion,we had two coffees also. The bill was very reasonable for a 3 course meal with a bottle of wine at €71.The waiter never charged us for the coffees as they were a bit late in coming.Plan B is a small local restaurant but has the kind of food and good service that would encourage me to go back again, hopefully soon ! The staff were very friendly and helpful, gave us good advice for the wine, the house red was suprisingly good. Given it was late, I just had a main, I ordered Lasagne. It was the BEST lasagne I have ever had. The portion was large too, I couldnt finish it. I got chatting to the chef afterwards to try and find out his lasagne secret. Lets just say, it takes 5-6 hours to make & worth every minute .... Saw this little place and decided to stop by, interesting name and fit our situation too (Plan B)! We started off by sharing bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. For mains, husband got the risotto with bacon, cheese and pear, it was absolutely delicious! Wasn't fond of the texture of the pear in it, could have done without, but overall great main! I got the warm chicken salad and was satisfied with the portions and the mixture of ingredients in the salad. Good deal, total bill came to €30 for 2 mains and a starter we shared. Also the staff were very pleasant. If we end up moving around here, this may be our new little spot. Definitely would recommend it and we will be back to try other options on the menu! << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 10] Next > Last Page >>
