Prego's is one of the few and maybe one of the only restaurants in the Dublin area that offers a full coeliac menu including coeliac pizza's, with the support of the Coeliac Society of Ireland, Prego's is fast becoming a firm favourite. Prego's restaurant has been nestled in Ballyowen Shopping Centre for the past two years. Offering an extensive menu of Italian dishes. The Head Chef Lucio Paduano hails from the south of Italy from along the Amalfi coast where good fresh food is not only an institution but also a religion, a hobby and a way of life. Bex83 (Foodie) Credibility Score: 33%   Visited: 04 Jun 2010 | Posted: 2 Months ago Have been eating in Pregos for the last 5 years and ordering take out too - absolutely love love live this place! It's like a true hidden gem in Lucan! Called too see do they offer other meals rather than pizza for delivery, the whole restaurant menu can be deilvered! Ordered the chicken in sun dried tomato sauce stuffed with spinach. Pregos never let me down. Nicest meal I've had from them yet, it gets better everytime! Polite and very helpful staff on phones, delivery speedy too. Will NEVER eat at another Italian restaurant again. Gutted to hear the owner of Pregos sold the other restaurant in Lucan a few years back - everything has gone donwhill since! It is a small restaurant but nicely decorated and cosy. I had Gamberetti Al Pesto to start with and Penne Pollo E Funghi for mains. My boyfriend had Bruschetta Vegetariana to start and Penne Alla Diavola for mains. Every single dish was nearly the best I've ever had in any Italian restaurant. The prawns were large and crunchy and the sauce was creamy and not too "pestoey". The bruschetta was delicious, like a little mini pizza. My pasta tasted beautiful, only issue would have been the sauce being a little runny made it a little messy to eat and it could have done with a little more chicken. My boyfriends main course was beautiful, lovely and tomatoey, no complaints whatsoever. I chose to have ice-cream for dessert. It came with a bit more raspberry coulis than I like but I'm really nit picking. The waiter was very thoughtful here and brought two spoons as my boyfriend hadn't ordered a dessert so gave him the option to taste the ice-cream...a nice touch. I will definitely be returning again, if not for the excellent food and good value, but for the hunk of a waiter! Even though a gluten free pizza was ordered, i was served a regular one and the waiter said i dont think thats gluten free but left it on the table. i explained to him that i couldnt have it and he said he would replace it. my companion chose to wait to have her pasta carbonara dish. when the meal came it was obvious that the pasta had just been replated as it was cold. the pasta also contained an awful lot of bacon fat and not much bacon. a very disappointing dish. i hope that this is just a one off. DrinkingBuddy (Newbie) Credibility Score: 21%   Visited: 09 Oct 2009 | Posted: over 2 months ago Great little restaurant with tasty food at a reasonable price & friendly service. Do note that it's not very glamourous though as the restaurant is siutated in the middle of a shopping centre, so probably a good choice for a friends night out rather than a romantic first date. Taxis are available right across the road though which is handy. Both pizzas and pasta were delicious. Enjoy! Fantastic menu, especially for coeliacs and couldn't fault the service of our waiter who was very attentive. Will definitely be back.
