For less than a tenner you can get what I think is the best club sandwich in Dublin, with chips. The cocktails are very good too (would recommend the caipirinha). Great place for food and a drink. Well, I think that phase is to be taken with a pinch of salt if being friendly to a customer involved the following phase "Well if nobody else at the table gets the same dish, then you'll be grand". This was in response to my question about whether the dish I got was ok for me to eat. Anyway - overall it was fine for pub food, their €12.50 deal worked out well as I wouldn't pay more for the food than that. Had tapenade to start, couldn't fault it. Thai Green Curry was poor - but then again if I want proper Thai food I'll go to a Thai restaurant. Even by pub standards it was bad - no sauce just spice, and not Thai spice. One of the girls with me had the Wok Chicken and she tasted my dish and said it had the same taste. Cocktails were good and music was fun. Overall its a good pub, average food but excellent cocktails '); //--> Joined Jan 08 18 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... hellokitty291 (Connoisseur) Credibility Score: 53%   Visited: 09 Apr 2010 | Posted: over 2 months ago Lukewarm chips and a chilli burger that was simply mince with kidney beans, not a bit of spice in it at all. Was there for lunch, everyone else seemed happy about it, maybe I'm just fussy. WOuld have complained only we were in a rush, had no time for delays. But I won't be rushing back Hello Kitty, Many thanks for taking the time to write a review, I could not make out the date of your visit. I am glad all your friends enjoyed their lunch meals, and our chilli burger is to cater for all pallets, yours should have been more spicy. We do encourage two way communication with our customers, so thanks very much for all your positive comments. Just as a reminder we offer a two course meal from €12.50, available SEVEN days, the only exclusion is lunch time from 1-2pm mon to fri. We hope to see you and your friends again in SOLAS Restaurant & Late Cocktail Bar. Good value. However, the waitress made a mistake and did not bring us the salads we ordered. Dear Claire, Many thanks for taking the time to write a review about your experience on the 6th March 2010, we encourage customers to let the supervisor on duty know of any mistakes that can be made, so as they can be promptly rectified. I am delighted that both yourself & your friend enjoyed your chosen salad dishes, which are very refreshing & popular with our customers. Please do not hesitate in contacting me directly for any further lunch or dinner bookings you wish to make. Many thanks Joan '); //--> Joined Jun 08 33 Reviews 2 Hats Off! loading... I had always associated it with cocktails on a Friday night and was very surprised with the extensive menu available for food. Will definitely return. The place is alot brighter and friendlier than i remember from previous visits and the food was just as good. We shared a chicken and bacon caesar salad and beef enchiladas. The enchiladas didn't have as much meat in them as i expected but the food was good overall. They do great cocktails too!! They indicate on their menu that they cater for ceoliac and that is the part that I find annoying. They really do not and staff do not know what you are talking about. They tell you that you can eat the chips but they are actually cooked in the same oil as anything bread crumbed, they will consistently serve you your salad with croutons and then are insulted that you ask them to change it. Which I did only to be given the same salad back (they missed taking a crouton out!). I dislike that they say they cater for ceoliac when they do not; just don’t put it on the menu! I am not sure how you have been mis-informed but the following is our standard procedure - We have a number of fryers used in our kitchens, and have a seperate Deep fat fryer only for the cooking of chips, this is for a number of reasons: 1. To ensure there is no cross contamination between non-coeliac foods & coeliac foods, as per the guidelines of the Coeliac Assocaition. 2. That during busy lunch periods it speads up the cooking of this food item for the various food orders. 3. To also maximise the cleanliness of the oil. All the dishes & deserts on the Coeliac menu are prepared following advise from the Coeliac Association. We encourage our customers to talk to our staff should there ever be a problem, so that it can be promptly & positively resolved. Sola also stock Coeliac Beers, as we have a number of regular customers who are Coeliac & regularly enjoy both our food & service, in our Restaurant & Late Bar. Your review is from a visit to Solas and I am not sure of the date of your visit, but thank you for highlighting this even at this late stage, please do not hesitate in contacting me further, should you need anything else. Opted for the special and it was very nice... not much meat in it but would still order again. << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 15] Next > Last Page >>
