Thai Orchid is a firm favourite with both regulars and tourists. The restaurant is spread over 3 floors and is very authentic with Thai music. The chefs are also Thai which shows in the excellent menu choices and the prices are reasonable. We all ordered from the Early Bird Menu €18.95 for 2 courses and all were very tasty. The chicken dumplings were fabulous and there was a variety of lovely mains. Service was excellent, although it was quite quiet when we went in. It was much busier when we were leaving. Altogether a lovely expereince, right in the heart of the city!! It was a shame they removed their 2 course lunch menu, as it used to be very good value. Unfortunately, the last time i was there, was a disaster. There was only one waiter looking after two floors of tables. We arrived at 1 (for our 1-2 lunch break) and were served our starters at 1.50. We had brought a cake along as it was someone's birthday. We had to ask the waiter to bring the cake out during the main course, as some of us had to leave. The atmosphere was awful, as there was tension between the tables as to who was being served first. Some people left,as they were waiting too long. It wasn't the waiters fault at all, he did the best in the circumstance. It's a shame, as no-one in my work will chance it again for a lunchtime. The service is good and prompt, the staff are very nice and possibly the only authentic Thai thing in the place. As is standard now in almost every restaurant in Dublin there is a well appointed early bird menu, which offers up a great selection of starters and main courses. For my starter here I had the spring rolls, followed by a lovely creamy red curry with chicken. The food is excellent & the service is competent and friendly, without being overly intrusive. My only quip would have to be the wine, we had a bottle of their house white & to be honest it wasn't great, nor was it chilled properly. However, the pluses did far outweigh the negatives and we will be back. The food is nice, I had the vegetarian spring rolls and my partner had the spare ribs which were delicious. We both went for the Massaman Curry for mains which was quite nice, not mindblowing like others I have experiences. The big draw back is the price, the food portions and quality are better elsewhere and for a about 20euro cheaper than Thai Orchid. I would recommed it for those who are looking for nice meal in the very heart of Dublin, but there are better Thai restaurants hidden in less obvious locations. I've been to some really good thai restaurants before and this doesn't match up to be honest. Its not bad, but its not great either, little overpriced for what you get quality wise. Wouldnt be in a hurry back, more of a glorified chinese was my impresssion on leaving. Four of us ate here for dinner on Saturday after the rugby and were delighted with the food and very pleased with the service... The portions are generous but not huge and average main course seems to be between €11 and €15.... The restaurant itself has a very relaxed atmopshere and I will certainly go back.... The early bird was good value the starter was nice and the beef honey chili with cashew was also really nice - the noodles were cold when they arrived but once highlighted the staff kindly sorted that out for us. It was value for money but I fear like most restaurants the standard of food has dropped slightly in accordance with the prices. Next time I'll try the a la carte rather than the early bird. << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 12] Next > Last Page >>
