Great atmosphere, tastey food, staff not very friendly, competitive prices. Would recommended, plus they have a selection of wines and gourmet foods for sale. 5 stars Joined May 10 3 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... zagathead (Newbie) Credibility Score: 13% Visited: 09 Jun 2010 | Posted: last month The Cheese Pantry always lovely comfort food with a modern twist whether it be bankers and mask or chicken or beef casserole. But it comes at a price which always seems to be a little bit on the pricey side. I never fault the food I just come away thinking hmm that was a bit pricey. Thursday this week the two of us arrived for lunch at 2 pm and had the herbed cod speciall which came with tomatoes and asparagus but no potatoes at twelve euro fity each. One portion of mash and spring onion at three fifty followed by a pot of tea for two. Total price for a one course lunch for two was thirdy two euro. Food and Service was good but I think you can get better lunch time value. The menu is very limited however and I think it should be broadened to ensure return diners. I had the black pudding, chorizo and potato salad which was lovely but slightly small as a main course any my boyfriend had the spinich and mushroom pasta which he enjoyed. We then shared a cheeseboard for desert which was great. Would return but would like more choice on the menu. We were kind of disappointed by the limited breakfast choice and when i requested some thing different like an ommelette we could not be accomodated. We ordered a smoked salmon bagel - lovely but nothing inspirational. The other choice was a chirizo, potato and black pudding salad. The chirizo was fantastic large rustic chunks - so tasty. Overall very good quality ingredients used, even if a tiny bit pricey. Is this the restaurants fault? Had the seafood Chowder for starter & was very good. Bangers & mash for main, ecellent comfort food & banoffe pie for dessert, which was good but not amazing. Friend had pasta for main, which again was very good & pavalova for dessert. Not a fan of pavalova myself but this was a bit different to usual and good. Overall a really nice restaurant, lovely atmopshere and very nice staff. Service was professional & quick, but you were not been rushed. The menu was 3 course for €23 odd and €18 for 2, very good value. Definite recomendation Joined Aug 09 23 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... Noseybear (Guru) Credibility Score: 55% Visited: 08 Apr 2010 | Posted: over 2 months ago Had dinner with my friend the other night and was a little disappointed with the menu choice. We only had th option of ordering from a fixed menu 2 courses for €18 euro. However, over half of the dishes have an added supplement of between 3 and 5 euro, which bumps up the cost. I have eaten here before for lunch and also from a previous evening menu and thought that they had much more to offer. In conclusion, the menu is just too limited and not good value Joined Dec 07 2 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... colmfarl (Newbie) Credibility Score: 35% Visited: 12 Mar 2010 | Posted: over 2 months ago A fantastic find. This is a Gourmet Deli, wine shop and restaurant. My wife and I had dinner here on a Friday night and there was a wonderful admosphere. There is a fixed 3 course meal for 22 per person. it's excellent value. All courses couldn't be faulted and we're looking forward to visiting again to sample the rest of the menu.
