Service is also fine but nothing personal Joined Dec 06 40 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... sharonj (Guru) Credibility Score: 88% Visited: 20 Apr 2008 | Posted: over 2 months ago Ate here last night. I had the lamb cutlets for mains. I ordered baked potato but was brought out baby boiled - I wasn't told when ordering that there are no baked potato's on the menu! The lamb was delicious, really tender & juicy. The veg was great too. Dessert was lemon curd cheesecake - . It was good. I still think this restaurant is overpriced & to be honest the service was a little slow. We were parched before we could get someone to take our drinks order. Sorry... We went here with my parents recently, I realy like the atmosphere, decor and the staff are friendly. I always order a steak here as the meat is beautifully seasoned and cooked over a flame. The most difficult part of visiting the Dungeon is deciding whether to have the Bernaise or the Garlic butter. If you apreciate a good rare steak this is the only place to go in South County Dublin. So many restaurants try to do too many things in a complicated way and miss doing the simplest things well. The Dungeon has removed the clutter from their menu and delivers simple dishes exquisitely. The wine list is varied and reasonable. The atmosphere is intimate with exposed stone, dark wood and candlelight. The only hotel restaurant venue I make an effort to go to. It had been a couple of months since I was there last and I did notice an improvement in the quality of the service. The food was fine - on the recommendation of our waitress, we shared a starter of chicken wings and it was more than adequate for all of us. Main course was good - lamb cutlets for one and stuffed breast of chicken for the rest of us. Perhaps a little too much stuffing but that was ok! Small carafes of house wine are a nice touch. We will be back - it's very convenient and we like the ambience generally of the hotel. We both had tender steaks cooked to perfection served with tasty sides and a bottle of red wine. This place is a real neighbourhood gem and I would highly recommend it.
