Overall we had a good experience the food was great and he service was 2nd to none. It was good value for money for what we got we really enjoyed it. The only thing I found was where we were sitting we were looking straight at the front desk which was a complete eye sore - it really spoilt the atmosphere for us. It was very busy so we couldn't move - I would recommend maybe doing it up or getting a revamp of the desk - I have seen some other bars/restaurtants which have lovely reception areas with lovely wood I think the church needs this - we will be back so I hope to see a new front desk then!!!! :-) Joined Oct 08 7 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... Alas the restaurant at the gallery was not open as our visit occurred during in between opening times. We decided to stay in the bar area and ate from the bar menu. The food was delicious, the staff excellent and we felt it was very good value for money. The bar area was full of diners. Most of all we loved the fact there was no television screens so we could hear ourselves talk. The staff told us the television screens are only utilised for important games e.g.rugby international games. Having sampled the wonderful atmosphere of this most unusual venue we will return again and book the gallery restaurant. We all opted for the special menu which includes 4 courses and a bottle of wine for €59 per couple. excellent value and the food was out of this world good. I would highly recommend this place. The staff were extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the menu without being too much in your face. I would defo 100% recommend. The setting itself is awesome too. I have eaten here several times for a numbers of different occasions, one time was a family graduation celebration, another a romantic date! They have amazing deals for two with no cutting the quality of the food! The balcony seating area is fantastic, it has a slight secretive feel as you gaze down on the happenings below yet without being isolated from the atmosphere. Excellently trained staff, just the right amount of attention given, no annoyance! Whether it’s packed out or not the Gallery Restaurant always has that extra zing and never disappoints. I have visited the Gallery Restaurant before, hence my returning with 2 friends. Unfortunatley with a very bad experience. We had to wait for a table, no problem there, its usually a good sign. When we were led to our recently cleared table, menu in hand I was disappointed to see that the waitress hadn't cleaned the table and she proceded to do so after she had sat us at the table. Lets just say I don't enjoy having crumbs pushed onto me..... We ordered duck confit which was dry and overcooked. The waitress proceeded to bring our 3 drinks to the table beside us (it had 2 people who were already drinking!). I called her over to us and she plopped the drinks in front of us. I asked her which was the diet coke and she asked if one was meant to be diet! She then went back to the bar and was magically able to distinguish between them! Anyhow that sorted out we awaited our mains. When the arrived, you guessed it they went to the couple beside us again. I called over the waitress and we tucked in. Unfortunatley I could tell just by looking at my steak that was burned and looked really really dry. However my poor friend salmon was swimming in butter which should be hollandise sauce. The best thing there was my diet coke. We finish our meal with dessert which was the worst we ever had.. Dont even worth a word.. At the end of the day I feel very embarrassed that I brought my friends here. Although it was extremely busy, the waiting staff were very helpful and made me feel like my business was appreciated. I had a lot of Christmas shopping and the waiter helped me carry my stuff to my table. The food was lovely as well. I ordered turkey and ham which was moist and tender and it came with a tasty sauce. For the price that I paid, I thought it was good value.
