Subdued lighting and couches made it very comfortable. Plenty on offer on their menu at a range of prices. Ordered a pate, then confit of duck with 2 of glasses of white. We paid approximately €30 per head which for this area of the city I thought was excellent. Not a huge amount in mains portion which I had but it really was fine for what we paid. Service was friendly and efficient, would definitly drop back in there again. Great part of town with excellent neighbouring pubs. We ate in the dining room upstairs which has quite interesting decor and as there were a few other party groups had a nice atmosphere. Service was very efficient and with a smile which was really good. We managed to get the early bird menu and it is really good value at €16 for 2 courses or €19 for 3. Nice leaves and chorizo to start and then I opted for haddock fillet for main course which was great. Banana sticky toffee pudding wasn't the best I've ever had but was still tasty. Will have to arrange another visit! '); //--> Joined Jul 08 17 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... My friend wanted to give it a go in may we went. Sat downstairs cause no seats upstairs. Too dark could barely see our food. The dips are nice, the fish pie is tasty. The smoked haddock main I got was cold with too much butter an salt. The portions for Early Bird were very small. Service seemed indifferent to us. Not bothering with us or being helpful at all. Food was tasty and well cooked but very small. Duck Confit as a main very tasty. Unfortunately very small. Chocolate Brownue for Desert was Tasy. Major Concerns are the small portions and the indiffrent staff we were faced with. I was going for dinner with two friends who wanted to go to Odessa so I thought sure, why not give it another try. Sadly however, I cannot report an improvement. The food was fine and the earlybird is pretty good value, but it was let down by the frosty service of three of the servers we encountered. The atmsophere isn't bad, meaning it's cosy without being squashed, but the couches you're sat on are ripped and shabby. This is probably something though that could be overlooked if the service was acceptable. We were actually thinking of booking a party here later in the year but decided against it because I hate to think what the service would be like with a group of 30 if what we as a group of 3 got on Friday. Restaurant fairly empty, but got to sit beside the window to catch the last of the sun.. We had the warm chorizo salad and soup for starters, very tasty. I had the smoked haddock for main which was perfectly cooked and really tasty. 60 euro for two courses and a nice bottle of wine, great value. Have been here loads of times and food never disappoints. There was plenty of breads and butter on the table from the start. Had the pate for starters - delicious with a nice helping of salad and toast, and lovely caramelised red onion. The lentil loaf for main was delicious - moist and tasty. Sorbet to finish - the menu has a mix of sorbet and ice-cream but I just had the full helping of sorbet, this was no hassle at all. The sorbet was gorgeous... blackcurrant and mango boules, really fresh. Service was efficient - each table had approx 10 people and we waited until the full table was served to start eating - we weren't waiting long at any stage. Water jugs were re-filled regularly without having to ask. The only downside to Odessa was the bathrooms downstairs - dirty and lacking in toilet paper. An unfortunate element to an otherwise great dining experience. We ordered from the early bird menu which at €19.00 for 3 courses is fantastic value and runs Tuesday to Thursday and all night Saturday. The atmosphere was pleasant and service was friendly and efficient. The food itself was delicious and very flavoursome- I had the chicken liver pate to start follwed by the smoked haddock and a divine chocolate brownie to finish.Perhaps a little more toast with the pate would have been good but this is a minor complaint. All in all a great experience-I'll definitely be back. << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 101] Next > Last Page >>
