Believed to have been built in the 1700’s it is one of the oldest buildings in the village of Glasnevin. The Restaurant was opened in July 1996 and gets its name from the old washhouse, which was situated along the hill. The Restaurant has always prided itself on offering high quality products sourced locally and prepared by our chefs. The Washerwomans has established itself as a favourite for family occasions or Funerals / Christenings with personalised menus a private area that can seat up to 50 and special offers like kids eat free (a free kid’s main with every adult) and an excellent early bird that’s on seven nights a week. The decor is a bit dated & its a bit like a barn but the staff and food are lovely. Not a place for a romantic night out but if your in the area and looking for good food its a safe bet. The food is overpriced for what is served, much better value available in better class restaurants. The place has zero atmosphere and emptied very early the night we were there. Staff were waiting on us to leave at 9.30pm which made it uncomfortable to sit and relax after our expensive meal. Menu had stated that the chicken dish contained pesto sauce - chef must have run out of pesto as the dish had no pesto and food was quite dry. Desserts are way overpriced €6 for a slice of bought in apple tart! Pot of tea for two people was charged at €5, extortion!! Definitely one to avoid. Nice little place. Great deals going on. Service a bit relaxed but staff were pleasant all the same. Goats cheese tartlet was delicious. They were interesting as I have never seen risotto done that way before. My partner had the prawns and I have to say they weren’t great, kind of bland and over done. For my main I had the chicken which was nice and the mash was very nice. A lot of my friends love the restaurant so I am sure I will go back. I just don’t think it’s the place for me. Janielcat (First Timer) Credibility Score: 9% Visited: 19 Jun 2010 | Posted: last month I've been to this Restaurant once before today and from once I walked in the door I wondered why I hadn't been back since the previous time. I enjoyed it then and I enjoyed it even more this time. We were greeted by a very nice man that made us all feel very welcome. Sorry I don't remember his name. It''s so easy to get things right like clearing away wine glasses from the settings when they are children, like putting a bottle of their own very cold filtered water on the table without having to ask, also kids meals brought out while parents are eating their starters without having to ask etc but I find more Restaurants get it wrong than right but not this Restaurant. I had the Bruschetta and the chicken with a side of Vegetables all cooked to perfection,my Husband had the pork belly and the salmon again cooked perfectly. The desserts were shared and really good. We'll be back very soon. << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 19] Next > Last Page >>
