LPAN (Guru) Credibility Score: 62%   Visited: 07 Apr 2010 | Posted: 2 Months ago Every time I go to Dundrum with my kids they want to go here so we ventured over the Easter holidays. They are 8,7 and 2 and all like different things on the menu. My 7 year old had the Miso soup and cleared it as always - great that you can get a refill. She followed that with chicken and vegetable gyoza. I had vegetable yakisoba and my eldest had prawn nigiri again and again and again! My youngest had a bit of everything and when I spotted some crab claws going around he quickly took them off my hands. My 7 year old also dived in which was great to see. I had the unlimited water and they had 2 cokes between them. Total bill came to E54.65 which is pretty pricey for a snack but on the other hand I love to see them try different things and it is far removed from the other end of the coin - nuggets and fries! Will go again as will have no choice but not as oftern as my three would like! The first thing that surprised me was that the dishes on the conveyor did not have time stamp stickers on the lids so I wondered how the staff know when to remove unsold stock. The next thing that surprised me was how much more expensive the Dundrum branch was. For example, the most expensive (grey) dish is €6.75 in Dundrum while it is £5.00 in London - given an exchange rate of 0.88 that should be £5.68 in Dublin (19% more expensive in Dublin). All the lower-priced dishes are also significantly more expensive in Dundrum. We had a miso soup which was very good, piping hot and at €2.00 for unlimited refills excellent value. I tried a chicken yakisoba which I had cooked fresh in front of me last week in Paddington and was superb there. Unfortunately it was a disaster in Dundrum. A bowl of bland noodles appeared with dried out chicken bits on top, some of which were barely lukewarm. I brought this to the attention of the manager when we were paying and he apologized and explained that the Dundrum store did not have the facilities for cooking hot dishes to order and the hot food is prepared in a kitchen elesewhere in bulk in advance and stored in holding ovens for up to two hours. This explained the dried out chicken sitting on the noodles. Although we were there for peak lunchtime the choice of sushi on the conveyor was quite limited when compared to their menu. I also had a squid salad (good, nice spicy sauce) and some salmon sushi (also good). Between the two of us we had six dishes a filtered tap water (€1) and a miso soup. The bill came to €31.25 (the manager downgraded the chicken yakisoba to blue from purple because of my comments). In conclusion, if you stick to the sushi it is generally good (though pricey). Could not recommend the hot dishes though. Finally managed lunch there today, the food is good but not the best Sushi I have ever had - think you need to go out side Ireland for that. Also it is expensive and you can rack up a big bill very quickly if you arenot careful. Liked it but it has a long way to go before it would be as good as some of the Japanese places I've eaten in in the US & the UK Joined Oct 07 35 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... foodiefreak (Guru) Credibility Score: 78%   Visited: 18 Mar 2010 | Posted: over 2 months ago On only my second ever visit to Dundrum with the other half we decided to try Yo Sushi as we both love japanese food but are rarely anywhere we can have it. The staff were lovely and helpful explaining the menu and the lunch deal which is great value. 3 plates (of certain colours) and miso soup for €10. The miso soup is delicious and refills are free. The water is €1 with free refills also. The counters have little taps on front of you to top up your own glass with either still or sparkling. The conveyor belt is fun and although we felt a little limited we ate very well & had delicious food all for €22. We had fun and it was soooooooo relaxed! Will definitely be back. If only there was somewhere like this in Liffey Valley SC or Blanchardstown SC '); //--> Joined Jan 08 149 Reviews 0 Hats Off! loading... I took her to lunch the other day and was surprised by the amount of vegi options availlable. She had miso soup and potato dumplings. She loved her lunch, the portions were good and it was very reasonable, next time I might even venture to have lunch myself. A great little spot for a quick bite. It's quick if you want it to be and so tasty. There is a great selection on the belt and they will always make something up for you if you ask for it nicely enough. The staff are top class, very attentive and make an effort with all the customers. Their yakisoba is great and I also love their gyoza. Definitely go if you're in Dundrum. Some sushi pieces are over 5 euro on their own! I was also horrified when I was told that tap water was a euro. Such a joke. Also, who wants to eat in the corridor of a busy shopping centre anyway? No comfort or privacy here. Better places in Dundrum. << First Page < Prev [Results 1 - 8 of 18] Next > Last Page >>
