Dublin City Centre, Co Dublin

Dublin in recent years has undoubtedly become one of the most popular places in Europe to visit or stay in and with good reason. The reasons why people come here are endless and the possibilities for enjoying oneself here are many. Dublin is the Ireland's capital city (Belfast and Cork are the island's other two major cities) and since its beginning around 988 it has accommodated many diverse nationalities from the Vikings to the English invaders to the sailors, traders and writers who settled and lived here over the centuries.

Modern Dublin is being transformed by enormous changes caused by the recent economic boom, and you cannot be here without catching some of the infectious excitement that comes with prosperity. The city has always had a reputation as a great historical city, and its strong links with world literature and the arts are readily apparent. It certainly has a lot to offer visitors - not least its diverse attractions. In summing up, Dublin has been gaining a reputation over the last decade that, very few cities in the world could live up to.

As Dublin's City Centre is relatively small the best way to travel around it is on foot. Our Dublin City Centre Map should help you find places. It also highlights the various shopping areas.

One of Dublin's most popular attractions is the Temple Bar area. These narrow streets and lanes located in the heart of Dublin's City Centre represent Dublin's cultural quarter. Many of the city's best Pubs, Bars and Nightclubs are to be found here as well as many interesting shops.
